So what happens to those women who model for men's rags? Thrust out the door when their looks have gone, left to wander the streets and imagine what their lives had been if they hadn't fallen into the wrong crowd, the bad situations, the drugs, fast times and dirty sheets? Well, maybe not. Gloria Dawn, who had as many names as she did layout spreads in the 1960s seems to have turned out just peachy. Like, a Doctor of Philosophy degree from McGill University in 1971 following a Master of Arts in 1969 AND THEN a Masters in Business Administration in May 1989?
Gloria Dawn, to set the record straight, is actually Susan Norman. No, wait...Dallas Blair. No, Connie Curry. Leslie Southern. Donna Cole. Cherry Chadwick. Mary Hayes. She was a hot blonde, er...brunette...no wait...she had black hair. All Gloria Dawn. Doctor of Pinup-ography.
Ms. Dawn isn't too bitter about her modeling days, she seems to take it all in stride...I guess a degree in philosophy makes you adjust to what life throws at you. She does, however, get angry when she sees her photos being sold on ebay for big bucks, so she has her own website, well-designed, free of charge and a most refreshing attitude about it all. Connived a bit by crooked cads with bogus model releases and had "test photos" published without her permission she still seems like the kind of woman anyone would love to have over (or have as a relative) and her website is a "model" of documentation and fun. She'll even sell you an autographed photograph for twenty bucks Canadian. I'm pleased to share her site HERE.
